My worthy Sir
Your kind and agreeable Letter dated May 20th came safe to hand the day before yesterday. The contents were truly flattering. I expect matters have taken a contrary turn since you wrote. I presented your attention to Mrs. Blount & his excellency likewise to Mrs. and Mr. McClung.
King, yesterday shew me your Letter to him, and I can assure you that not only him, but the rest were all pleased much. I have nothing to communicate.
Being a Lieutenant His Excellency will say much I can assure you as my opinion, that there appears a grand Revolution in the air - and depend, it drops its' Deues on this quarter.
Patience, Fortitude, and Perservence, are now on tryal .
I wish sincerely you would direct me respecting the Muster Rolls of the Militia, from Cumberand I have rec'd as many as would fill a half Bushel.
I don't expect this will reach you in Philadelphia - if so tender my respects to your Son - and if an oppertuny should offer - forward the kind, & your Brother I am
I have the honor to be My worthy Sir Your Friend and Obd Servant
