Jany 18, 1791
To Major JW Stagg
respecting the commutation of
Lieut Willis Wilson of the
Virginia Line - an Invalid.
Pay Office Jany 18 1791
Sir
You will please to inform the Secretary of War that I have examined the Bo Settlements made by Mr. Dunscomb, late Asst Commisr of Army Accounts for the State of Virginia, and find that he issued to Lieut Willis Willson two Certificates No 701850 & 701851for the amounting to 1000 dolls which fum is equal to five years full pay or the Commutation of a Lieutenant - on a reference to the Books of this Office it does not appear that Lieut Willson has returned his Certificates of Commutation it is probable it was done to the State of Virginia, or the State could not charge the pension to be granted him to the United States or at the Treasury of the United States.
