To Major North
1876

War Office 27 June 1786
Sir
While I lament the imbecillity of the treasury of the united states which prevents the payment of my warrant in your favor, I respect your zeal which induces you to perform an expensive tour of duty, without any assistance from the public.
The dispatches for the Ohio and also your orders. Shall be ready to be delivered to you this evening --
I am Sir
Your Most Obedient
Humble Servant
HKnox
Major North

of the United States.
