By desire of the Secretary of War I forward you two boxes contg the following articles of clothing for the Troops in the service of the United States, by the way of Amboy. The receipt for the delivery shall be transmitted you by Post wishing them safe and speedily to hand. [illegible] with much respect

Received New York 15th December 1791 from William Hill on board of the Amboy Stage Boat Two Boxes #1 & 7 and mark'd SH containing clothing for the Troops in the service of the United States which I promise to forward to Samuel Hodgdon Esqr. Q. M. General in Phila. the danger of the Navigation excepted he paying the Customary charge of Transportation having Sign'd Duplicate Receipts -
