Summary Pickering reports on the status of the men who apprehended him and the subsequent pursuit of the suspects by Captain Rosewell Franklin. Captain Franklin followed the offenders up the river. Joseph Dudley, Nathan Abbot, and Benjamin Abbot were all apprehended after a confrontation. Captain Franklin is coordinating with people upriver to ensure the capture of all offenders. John Jenkins is preparing to move to the Lakes with his wife. Daniel and Benjamin Earl have offered to turn State's evidence. William Carney's father has requested leniency for him. Noah Phelps intends to surrender himself. Joseph Dudley was wounded in his capture and is too ill to be put in jail. Some of those who were arrested on suspicion of being part of the conspiracy to capture Pickering are now being released due to want of evidence, while others are being denied bail. By the time Pickering closes the letter, Joseph Dudley has died from the wounds inflicted during his apprehension.
