Philadelphia 5th May 1797
Sir -
I have received your letter covering your Return [Affairs? offices?] up to the 1st day of April 1979 - It cannot answer any valuable purpose making Copies of such returns for The War Office, they are never consulted there on any occasion, nor could they be to any advantage I will endeavour to free you from this labour in future - I am well pleased to find General Wilkinsons had got timely and safely to [land? hand?] - together with the Chickasaw and Cavalry articles - and that they would be soon on their way to their destinations - The stopages answering to the enclosed receipts from Martin and Hamiltons drivers, shall be made, and passed to your Credit - I am glad you inserted the omitted weights of No 12 in the invoice - Nothing particularly new - adieu
Your Most Obedient Servant
Samuel Hodgdon
Major Isaac Craig -
